4oz Smooth Raw Silk Noil, 100% Silk, Natural Unbleached

Silk Noil (raw silk) is untreated silk reeled from the cocoon. Raw silk is covered with the protein sericin. Sericin is produced by the silkworm when spinning a cocoon. Sericin binds to the keratin of skin, forming a protective film. It contains 18 amino acids and collagen that are much like ours and can be directly absorbed into the skin. Highly moisture-binding and film-forming, it is said to be:

1. Excellent in absorbing and release moisture. Sericin is smooth and gentle on the skin. Raw silk reduces the uncomfortableness of being sweaty and wet.

2. Provides moisture to skin.

3. Gentle on the skin–it does not stick to the skin. Yet even after repeated washing, its effect remains almost the same. It gives a gentle, soft silky touch.

4. Skin care material produced from pure sericin is less irritant and gentle on delicate skin.

5. Provides an antibacterial coating.

6. Antimicrobial by nature and resistant to dust mites.

The texture of silk noil can be surprising. It is flannel/cotton like with short nubby slubs. If you rub the silk noil around on your hands, you can actually see and feel the moisturizing effects of the sericin.

Q & A:

Q: Will washing destroy the benefits of raw silk?

A:Silk Noil’s greatest enemy is heat. Heat and alkaline solutions destroy the sericin. When washed in cool to warm water, the silk’s proteins will last 100’s of washes.

Q: Who should use silk noil?

A: Anyone but especially those with eczema, dry skin, or acne. Many people see the difference in their skin immediately.

Q: Will this make my hair better?

A: Yes and no. It will make your hair stronger but will not prevent bed-head or messy hair like charmeuse does.
